Unfortunately, we all have a great tendency to worry, even though much of what we worry about never happens.  How many of you have drifted pleasantly off to sleep only to awaken in the middle of the night with worries on your mind, or perhaps you never got to sleep in the first place?

Ralph Waldo Emerson said this about worry: Finish each day and be done with it.  You have done what you could.  Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can.  Tomorrow is a new day.  You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

In the New Testament, Jesus repeatedly urges us to turn our burdens over to him.  He doesn’t want us to be consumed by worry.  Do we not have faith in the One who is all knowing and all powerful?  It seems prudent  to do what we can and then turn it over to God. letting him handle the problem in his great wisdom.  We may have to do this over and over until our stubborn mind can release the problem, but do it we can!
